Boost Your Book Sales With BookFunnel

Whether a fiction or nonfiction writer, take advantage of one of the greatest resources available to boost your book sales today: BookFunnel.

BookFunnel is an e-book and audiobook distribution service that enables authors to send copies of their books directly to their audience’s e-reader or device. You can quickly and easily boost your reader engagement and increase sales with their book promotion and email campaign-building tools.

I’ve been an avid BookFunnel user, both an author and a reader, for several years. I’ve compiled my experience into a guide to teach you how to use BookFunnel to maximize your sales and create marketing magic.

Ten Tips to Optimize Your BookFunnel Experience and Maximize Book Sales

1. Draw Readers In with a Reader Magnet 🧲

A reader magnet is a piece of your writing that you offer for free to your readers in exchange for them signing up to your mailing list. Upload a short but enticing reader magnet to BookFunnel, allowing readers to download the content for free. For example, I currently offer my subscribers the free e-book The Great Exchange: The Guidebook to start creating life-changing circles of support

Draw readers in to engage with your content by posting the BookFunnel download link in a popup on your website. Alternatively, offer the reader magnet to those who sign up for your mailing list or create a giveaway page for the content. Make sure to place the download link in the front and back matter of your published e-books.

2. Drum Up Excitement with Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) and Beta Copies 📖

When you’re gaining momentum for an upcoming release, BookFunnel’s Certified Mail allows you to send your manuscript securely and easily to up to 500 reviewers a month. The email includes a private, unshareable link to a watermarked copy to ensure your unpublished work is safe.

Make sure also to schedule release reminders and follow-up emails through BookFunnel. Once the ARC campaign closes, scan the summary email provided to see which reviewers downloaded the e-book and which you may need to remove the advance reader team.

3. Build Your Following with Newsletter Cross-Promotion ❎

An author’s best friend is a large and engaged audience. Find new fans and expose your book to new readers looking for authors in your genre with BookFunnel’s newsletter cross-promotion boards. You can advertise your content to another author’s newsletter and social media following here.

Cross-promotion posts often require a free e-book download (e.g., your reader magnet) and a landing page. Begin with just a few promotions at a time. That way, your readers are introduced to your books without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, authors sharing your work have time to warm their fans to your work.

4. Seamlessly Integrate Your Mailing List 📨

Automate your email list building with just a few clicks! Enable direct integration between BookFunnel and your email campaign software (Mailerlite, Mailchimp (A great URL to implement is: https://mailchimp.com/resources/how-to-market-on-social-media/), Constant Contact, etc.) to collect readers’ email addresses and automatically add them to a specified mailing list. In the other direction, you can set up an automated sequence to send new subscribers on your list automatic download links for your books.

You can integrate manually if your email campaign provider doesn’t support direct integration. Export user information in a CSV file and upload that file onto your mailing list.

5. Reach a Bigger Audience with Group Promotions 🚀

Group promotions are a wonderful resource for authors to collaborate and reach new readers. Participants share the group link across their mailing lists and social media platforms. Fans can view all content of participating authors and find new stories to read. You choose the theme, text, and pricing on your landing page. Custom sale tracking collects data on how many unique visitors were sent to each promo to inform your marketing strategy.

6. Expand Your Sales Reach with Direct Sales 💳

Automation is everything! BookFunnel will deliver books in response to sales on sites like Payhip and Sel, or directly from your website with PayPal, WooCommerce, or Shopify. Create a delivery action on BookFunnel for the e-book you’ve sold, and when the reader buys, they’ll be emailed a private download link for the e-books they purchased.

7. Create Customized Landing Pages for Different Subscriber Types 🛬

For every type of reader you target, create a customized landing page on BookFunnel. Growing your list with new subscribers? Make a page that requires entry of a valid email address before readers can download your magnet. Giving away book copies to existing subscribers? Create a landing page that doesn’t collect addresses. Managing a team of reviewers? BookFunnel’s restricted pages can check their email against a pre-approved list before releasing the download.

8. Share Audiobook Teasers and Advance Copies 🎧

If you’ve released an audiobook, use BookFunnel to market it to your best advantage. All the same, features associated with e-books—ARC campaigns, download pages, direct sales, unique codes, etc—are also available for audiobook releases.

Convert snippets of your audiobook into teasers on a sales page that leads listeners to click through and buy from select audio platforms. You can also include audio samples in newsletters and increase subscriber engagement.

9. Customize Your Landing Pages with Personal Branding 👨‍💻

As an author, your brand is one of your most valuable assets. Personalize your BookFunnel landing pages to include your brand colors, typefaces, and logo. Before you publish a new page, use a contrast checker to ensure your design is readable and avoid alienating readers with vision impairments.

10. Keep Unsubscribers From Accessing Your Content⛔

If your e-book is only available to new readers or you have a download limit on your landing page, consider blocking downloaders who have previously unsubscribed and are trying to subscribe again or those who have marked your emails as spam. You’ll need to enable direct integration to access this feature on BookFunnel.

We all want to see more authors succeed. BookFunnel has lent their platform to some of the world’s most successful self-published and indie authors.

If you want increased reader engagement and loyalty or need new marketing strategies, give BookFunnel a try using the tips above to increase your book sales.
