Define Yourself with Blogging

Define Yourself With Blogging

There’s only so much you can read about blogging before it’s time to step back and do a little assessment. After all, if you can read nearly thirty blog posts encouraging you to blog and explaining the benefits of blogging (or thirty chapters in a book that does the same), I have to ask: Why aren’t you working on your own blog?

I know that in that position, I would feel an overwhelming urge to start writing blog posts myself. Have you ever felt like you had a story in you that just had to get out? Don’t hold it in. Give in to the feeling and let that story hit the page.

One of the things that might be stopping you, however, is something equivalent to writer’s block. It’s the feeling that you’d like to write, but you’re not sure how to start.

Well, this is an excellent time to define yourself. Blogging gives you the chance to work out on virtual paper who you are or what you want. The better you define yourself, the more you explore who you are and what you believe, the easier and the faster the words will come.

“Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” – Aristotle

Think, for example, about a topic on which you are passionate. How much more easily could you write a blog post about a topic on which you have strong feelings, compared to one on which you have no feelings?

This means that blogging is an excellent chance to define who you are as a person. This is different for everyone. It’s something that only you can do. I will keep this brief, therefore, and encourage you to do your own homework.

Who are you? What do you love? What matters to you? On what topics do you feel most strongly? These are the things you should be blogging about.

If you’re not already blogging about them… why aren’t you?
