Creating Better Book Review Requests: A Template to Help

Creating Better Book Review Requests: A Template To Help

I constantly find myself emphasizing the importance of authors asking for sincere, honest reviews of their books. But what does a great review request look like? Here is an example you can riff of and then let me know how it worked for you and your network of colleagues and those on your mailing lists:

Tomorrow is the LAUNCH DAY. Woot Woot. Over X book copies sold in pre-launch.

Would you be one of my PALS?

‘PALs’ is a small group of friends and influencers who will help us get the word out. PAL is an acronym for the three things that have the greatest impact on launch success – and the three things I could really use your help with:

  • Pre-order the book on Amazon (making yours a verified purchase).
  • Amplify the message (see attached  – all captions and images are there)
  • Leave an unbiased review!

– Share your review with the world tomorrow on your various social media channels?

Note: The above review was given to me compliments of Val Ries, Chief Inspiration Officer. Here are links to Val’s book on Amazon:

Update: The result of this request speaks for itself. Val ended up with over 100 reviews. That’s a significant number of reviews that does set Vals book apart from other authors.
