Sales versus Marketing: How Do They Compare?

I have a colleague, Kevin Masi from Torque, who is planning a session for MENG (Marketig Executives Networking Group) on the difference and similarities between sales and marketing. I have been working with Kevin on a marketing leadership roundtable in Chicago and found his upcoming MENG session very interesting.

I made the comment that I think there are many more forms of marketing than sales. To research my curiosity I decided I went to Google and checked out the number of variations on the words “sales” and “marketing.” Here is where I found:
