The Reading Place: A Great Place for Kids

The Reading Place: A Great Place For Kids

Two weeks ago I sent out an email with the title: “Quick Question.” The content read:

How are you? I just wanted to check in and see if there is anything I can help you with currently?
I’m not selling anything, just offering support for any area of business where you might need help. Six years ago I was named one of the best networkers in Chicago. Now I have connections everywhere.
So, how can I help you?
Regards,
Melissa

I was greatly surprised when I received 250 emails thanking me for the thoughtful outreach and over 100 requests for help, either to help get jobs, get introductions for new business opportunities or even help with book writing and/or book launches and marketing.

I’ll continue to share the results of this outreach over the course of the next month, but, for now, I’d like to showcase one specific response and the special outcome for the person who reached out.

The Reading Place

Bob McInnis and his wife are spending the next year as the “Reader in Residence” at a special home called “The Reading Place”, set up just for reading to kids in Calgary. Prior to taking this year to focus on this unique and important venture–helping the next generation become strong readers — Bob had a company where he provides coaching and consulting called Remarkable People.

His company focuses on life, career, and relationship coaching. But this sabbatical year of reading is just as important as his focused career path. Being a lover of words and, even more so, of helping young people get better starts in life, I became quickly intrigued by Bob’s year of reading.

In the podcast (set up on YouTube for your ease and enjoyment), I welcome you to take time to listen to this 30-minute conversation where Bob shares the genesis of “The Reading House” and the many young children and family being served by the art of reading.

Podcast

Here is the podcast I created with Bob. I know you will enjoy the journey he is taking to inspire children to read. Take a listen and share with me what you think here.
