The New Networlding Center for Publishing
It’s taken two years to get my new office open, but it’s finally done. From painters to some construction, adding new pieces so that my incoming interns can have a place to sit, I’m now ready for business.
Be My Guest
After more than 15 years in business, working on teaching people networking around Chicago, and in different parts of the world, I now am happy to say I’m spending more time in Chicago. I’m nestled into the heart of our West Loop, where there are dozens upon dozens of award-winning restaurants. I’ve also become a member of Soho House, a great place for creatives to meet and collaborate.
But as an introvert (which many people I know don’t believe I am . . . but I am), I prefer to be in my quiet space working on one book or another for my make-a-difference authors. So, here are some other features of my new space:
This is my inner-sanctum office. Notice the desk. I got it at Pottery Barn. It actually cranks up and down so I can stand or sit. They say, “sitting is the new smoking.” In other words, it’s better to stand, so, for the most part, you will find me standing while I’m writing or editing or coaching one of my writing clients.
This is my Scrooge Desk. My favorite Christmas movie is “A Christmas Carol.” I love every version of it I can find during the holiday season. However, note that this spot where I create is Scrooge after he gets visited by the three ghosts of Christmas. When I’m at my desk, I’m creating and loving every minute of it, and since I now only work with make-a-difference authors, my work is all about giving back, so my mood is 99% happy when I’m here at my desk.
Finally, I want to show you my outer room. This is where my interns and I will create some really cool, fun writing projects this summer.
