Love Moods

If you’re a lover of poetry, that’s great. If you aren’t a fan of poetry, that’s great too – because this book have you speaking otherwise.  Hermene’s breakout poetry book is funny, smart, powerful and passionate. I’ll go as far as to say magical. Anyone who has loved will discover her words pull at your heart strings. It’s not the kind of poetry where you had to master the skill of sleeping with your eyes open in college or mumble at how cheesy it is. Check out this: “Sparked by my heart’s journey from rapture to capture, from fleeting flirtations to relationships abundant in sensual sensibility”.

Pretty fierce, right? That’s only one line!

It’s a book I will return to again and again, especially on those days when I need to be inspired to live life full out.  Oh, and it includes vogue-like pictures that complement the poems.

If you aren’t convinced yet, this is what a male colleague of mine that doesn’t even really like poetry said: “You know what? I loved it! Although targeted at women who “have been barefoot in love,” this collection of thirty-six works (with provocative titles such as “I See Your Face on My Pillow”) worked for me as well. And, why not? I’m not a black female, sure, but like ALL of us, I’ve had love, lost love, been in love, out of love, and everything in between. It’s a universal experience and language, and Hermene’s own experiences (and beautiful language) captures it perfectly”.

Get yourself or someone else the gift that keeps on gifting.
