Are You Stuck On Content Creation? How Often Should You Publish Blog Posts?

Stuck on content creation? According to recent research conducted by the social media marketing firm, HubSpot, those who publish 16 or more posts per month realize  4.5X more leads than those who publish 0-4 posts per month. And since content creation is now the main path to new leads, it’s a necessity for most people who are growing a business to figure out just how to accomplish this goal. So, just HOW can create that much content monthly?

Advice on content creation

There are a number of different opinions on content creation. Following are just a few from experts I admire:

  • “Write and Publish Daily – Even if it’s to somewhere small, publish daily. The more you create, the more you’ll improve. The best way to get good at something is to do it daily. Everything you excel at in life revolves around something you do all the time. Right?” — Chris Brogan from his blog post – Why Is It So Hard to Make Content?
  •  “Creating content is an act of service, so create content that you know will best serve the people consuming it.” –  Darcy De Leon
  • “To achieve greatness in this ad-free environment, we need a new mindset. We need to change from ‘sell, sell, sell’ to ‘entertain,’ ‘captivate,’ or ‘help, help, help.’ — Mark Schaefer, What is the role of content marketing in an ad-free world?
  • “I’m able to do more now than when I started because (1) I’m fully focused on it, (2) I’ve slowly built a dynamite team, and (3) we’ve generated massive momentum.” — Michael Hyatt – 4 Stages for Creating Maximum Impact for Your Message

Why invest so much in content creation?

As I searched through the vast wisdom available on the web through thought leaders from all walks of life and throughout the world, I tried to distill some steps down to help you make your content creation efforts even easier.

Here is my list of your first primary steps in coming up with content ideas:

  1. Jump up and down in front of your bathroom (or other) mirror telling yourself how great of a writer you areReally? Really. This is one of the best pieces of advice I’ve received and used regularly. It raises your vibration, your insights, and your abilities all at the same time.
  2. Write every day, at least 500 words. Play your favorite music that contains no words to inspire you as you write. Me? I’m currently using Vivaldi’s “The 4 Seasons” (Winter) for this inspiration.
  3. Get a friend to challenge you and keep challenging you. Having an accountability partner really makes a difference. It’s like the sand in an oyster. It will produce that pearl in you and you will do the same for them.
  4. Keep reaching for your unique voice. You’ve got it in you. FIND IT.
  5. Don’t Stop. Keep at it. As Winston Churchill so aptly stated: “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty . . . “
