With an Artist’s Eye: How Can You Design Book Interiors Better?

With An Artist’s Eye: How Can You Design Book Interiors Better?

There are many book covers that catch our attention, but what about the insides? Lately I have been reading a lot of Kindle books. Some are really good and some are terribly designed. It’s like going into someone’s beautiful home and then being asked if you would like to join them for a meal in their kitchen only to find the kitchen looks like a food bomb went off, pots are boiling over and dishes are piled up in the sink. The last thing you want to do is eat anything made in there. Well, it’s the same way with a book that has no design or bad design inside.

Juxtapose the visual of the messy kitchen with the interior of the book, above. It’s from a book I worked on for about a year called Fifty Ways to Better Social Media. The book not only showcases the best strategies and tactics for social media but it also “shows” readers more about what I would term as the “artistic” side of social media. It’s that emotional element that we who have tried many strategies and tacts learn–those subtle nuances that make a huge difference around building engagement and , as time goes on, trust.

So check out this link to this book on Amazon. Look inside the book. Use the “Surprise Me” option to view a random page. I think you will experience something much better than a boring page. You will experience something more surprising and therefore, more engaging. These are pages that say to readers, “Won’t you engage with me? Won’t you read further?” Enjoy!
