An unsolicited manuscript is something that an unmanaged writer sends directly to a book publisher. It can be a way to get your work published, but you must make sure you’re sending your manuscript to a publisher that will accept it.

1. Two Dollar Radio

Two Dollar Radio is an independent publisher based in Columbus, Ohio. They publish literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. They accept unsolicited manuscripts through their online submissions manager.

There are specific word count limits that your manuscripts must fall within. Another disadvantage of Kensington is that they will not give you a rejection. You won’t hear from them if they choose not to move forward.

5. NCM Publishing

This publisher will accept unsolicited manuscripts but only wants you to send the first three chapters with a professional query letter and your contact information. Email queries are accepted. Your manuscript must be edited for it to be considered for publication. You’re also requested to include a book marketing and promotion plan, whether your submission is fiction or non-fiction.

Before sending in your unsolicited manuscript, make sure it meets the expectations of the publisher so it will be considered. Follow all instructions to the letter and you’ll give yourself the best shot at being published.
