My Million Dollar Year with Seth Godin

My Million Dollar Year With Seth Godin

It’s been a year that I have been on Seth Godin’s Domino Project Street Team. I am on vacation now so I’ll be brief. I started thinking how much I have valued my experience as part of Seth Godin’s Domino Project Street Team where I truly have learned publishing and marketing at the feet of the marketing master himself, Seth.

The team I have been on is comprised of people of all ages and all backgrounds from all over the world. We have worked together on promoting and strategizing and implementing very unique, powerful marketing campaigns for the almost dozen books Seth has brought out this year – books he wrote and books others wrote. How did this rare opportunity come about? It’s a strategy I will share so you too can learn and benefit.

Last year about this time I decided that I was trying to do too much in the social media world. So I chose instead to focus on just “one” marketing leader to follow. I chose Seth as he was interested, as I was, in both publishing AND marketing.

So when Seth announced he was starting a special group to help him with the new project he was called “The Domino Project,” I put everything else aside and fill out the application he had created for potential members of the team. I kept going back daily and resubmitting just in case they did not see my first entry. I was so committed to getting on the team.

The good news was that I did get on the team and after 25 years in business, I finally started receiving the results that have been elusive up until now. Now others have taken all of Oprah’s advice. Me, I chose Seth. Now, because of him I have doubled my income this year, am just ready to close a very good book deal, and anticipate a couple of other amazing new clients coming on board soon. I am also helping others, in my case, recent college grads, get better starts in life. I have never been more successful or happier.

Reading Seth’s books and those he published this year by authors this year made all the difference. It all started with “Poke the Box” where Seth encouraged his readers to start getting out there and “making a difference” in the world. He kept going with books like “Do the Work” by Steven Pressfield and even pulling out Emerson’s amazing work, “Self Reliance.” It was all about work as art and the art of work.

In the end, I grabbed onto the artist in me. Even my pr coach (I hired one this year) did not agree with me about business professionals being artists but changed as I sent him a blog post upon a blog post by Seth talking about work as art.

Now I live as an artist with my creations feeling priceless, magical, and  “possibility limitless” as I say in Networlding.

So if you want a great year as I have had? Three words . . . “follow the leader.”
