Inspiration for Writers Block

Inspiration For Writers Block

You’ve sat down to write your memoirs, a bit of a story, or some piece of content and your mind instantly goes blank. You had a good idea, but now it seems to be floating somewhere else in your brain. There isn’t any writing happening. The obstacles of writer’s block can seem insurmountable at times, but that may only be because there isn’t the right inspiration available to you in order to start writing.

These moments of inspiration can help you be able to get around those obstacles so you can create the stories or content you want to make.

#1. Use online prompts to stimulate ideas.

There are several websites dedicated to offering you visual or verbal prompts as writing ideas. They might offer you a short plot that you can then continue, ask you certain questions about your life, or show you pictures that could be related to a story. Take these prompts, infuse them with your own ideas when they appear, and you’ll be back to writing in no time at all.

#2. Have a conversation with a friend of a loved one.

A great idea can appear from anywhere, but they tend to appear more often when we discuss moments with family and friends. Call up someone you have spoken with in some time or send them a message on your preferred social media channel. Run downstairs to speak with a spouse or your kids. Run down the street to speak with a co-worker. All of these actions will generate experiences that may encourage you to start writing.

#3. Go take a long walk.

One of the most common reasons for writer’s block is a lack of organization for the ideas you already have. There’s a lot of creativity sitting in your mind, but it can’t come out because it hasn’t formed into a full idea. Getting some exercise, like taking a long walk, can help you begin this organization process. Hop onto a treadmill or strap some comfortable shoes on and walk around your block a couple of times. You’ll be surprised at how effective this type of inspiration can be.

#4. Read a favorite book again.

Reading is essential to the writing process, but not all books are created equal. If you’re suffering from writer’s block, then pick up an old favorite book of yours instead of something that is brand new. The familiarity will help to put you into your comfort zone and engaging with the story will help you to begin creating new stories of your own.

#5. Get some food.

A quick snack can sometimes become the inspiration to overcome a writer’s block. It might be as simple as a few potato chips by your computer. You might want to cook a meal instead. If all else fails, see if there is a local farm that sells goods and run down to their shop so you can change your environment when getting something to eat.

#6. Change the way you are communicating.

Sometimes it isn’t the idea that is the problem. The expression of the idea can sometimes create writer’s block as well. Some ideas work better as paintings or as photography. Others might translate better into music. If you’re really struggling to put pen to paper or finger to keyboard, then step away from that environment altogether and be expressive in a different way.

#7. Take notes while watching TV.

Television isn’t usually a good place to find inspiration for writer’s block, but it can be when you’re equipped with the right tools. Pick a random show and then take notes about what you see. What lines stood out to you? What scenes made you feel emotionally connected to the show? What were the key character development points that you witnessed? When you watch TV and analyze it at the same time, you can use a show or a movie just as you use a book for inspiration around the obstacles that are in your way.

#8. Hire someone to write the idea for you.

If push comes to shove and nothing seems to be working, then maybe another writer can help you out. There are many freelance writers available online today that can create outlines, short chapters, and other documents for you that may fuel your own creativity after you see them. Inspiration for writer’s block can be found in the moments that surround each of us every day.

The inspiration for writer’s block can be found in the perfect moments of time that surround each of us every day. With an attitude of mindfulness, along with ideas like these, there doesn’t have to be an obstacle standing in front of your creativity anymore.
