This is an open letter to Richard Branson. For those of you who read it and would like to introduce me, please send an email to melissa@networlding.com. My intention is to request Sir Richard Branson’s review  of my vision and  plan I have been developing for over a decade. I have decided to share what I’ve been dreaming about, working on and planning for all these many years. Also, because the vision is a big one, I know it will take more than just my efforts to realize it. Won’t you join me as part of the community if you like what I am sharing?

The New Book Store

Dear Mr. Branson,

You recently wrote an article that invited those who had big ideas to “entertain you” with them. This is the beginning of my entertainment. I also just finished your great new book, “Like a Virgin.” Once I started I could not put it down. In it you talk about your life, entrepreneurship, making a difference and how you love collaborating on new ventures.

I thought about the vision I had for a new center. I realized that if you partnered with me and my team, together we could create an amazing new type of store. I would call it Virgin Social. It would be a new kind of book store. It would have the comfy bean bag chairs of your Mega Stores with the cheery helpers and high-touch experience of community and music that was your trademark but with more. How about:

  • Social media trainers who help people learn about how to really leverage Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google or Pinterest to start?
  • Social networking sessions where funders and entrepreneurs can connect?
  • Social concierge who can help people get signed up and set up with a tailored social media training program?
  • TED presentations with group conversations afterword?

And what if this was in a store that used to be a museum (used to be The Freedom Museum) in Chicago right at the start of Michigan Avenue‘s Magnificent Mile? What if there were several top, Chicago universities that had students doing internships regularly at Virgin Social?

What if it was the coolest place that people could go and connect High Tech with High Touch?  What if there were fifty of these Virgin Social centers in key places around the world?

Well, I have the team. I have the plan, I have the passion and I would love the partnership. More to follow!

Melissa
