A Night of Bold Books

A Night Of Bold Books

Despite the wet Tuesday evening in Chicago’s downtown area, plenty of folks showed for Networlding’s first speaker panel, Bold Book Author Series. In the elegant backroom of Wacker Dr.’s Pazzo’s Italian restaurant, aspiring authors and professionals from multiple industries gathered to listen to a panel that included “Rocket Branding’s” Ian Miller, “Dating for Life’s” Craig S. Wilson, and debuting children’s author of the forthcoming “True Tale of Dasher,” Alan Jania.

Ian Miller, who hosts the “MAD ROCKET Business Show” on Chicago AM560, was on point, sharing his experiences of turning his ideas into booming successes in the ad industry. Enamored with his being Australian, attendees bombarded him with questions about his home, but Ian used his talents, spinning his answers into relevant replies of how he left his country only to become a smashing success–and an author.

Grandfather of seven children, Alan Jania deviated from the traditional tale of “Rudolph” and created a story for today’s kids–he felt they needed a story to call their own. His book will be accompanied by an audio version, a music CD, and a Kindle edition.

Craig S. Wilson’s “Dating for Life” A.K.A. “The Four Agreements” for dating is inspired by his experiences with marriage. Craig wrote his book to provide further insight that strengthens the bond between two people. “You never want to alter what gets you to the alter,” Craig remarked.

The common advice all three authors gave was “write an ever-green book,” which means a successful title stands the test of time. Additionally, it was mentioned that storytelling has become much more interactive in today’s society. This statement springboarded into a discussion on how content is the key to building and retaining a strong following of readers and fans alike. That’s right–once you’ve written and published a book, your promotional content needs to be quick, slick, and overall engaging.

Networlding founder and CEO Melissa G. Wilson jumped in to add that life experiences are the cornerstone to promotion–the author-audience bond is created there. When your audience makes that connection, they will jump on Amazon.com–86 percent of book sales are made online.

Remember, their books are Amazon-exclusive titles. To learn more about these great authors, keep your radios tuned in for Ian’s show; be on the lookout for Alan’s new book; Craig’s book will give you solutions to a successful marriage and love life.

The closing topic–an acquired strength–was “always be open to criticism.” Your writing is never perfect in the first draft–Wilson went through seven drafts of his book. Critique and feedback is essential to the writing process–it will push you to write better, at a more engaging and marketable level
